Once again the Children’s Ministry has had a very busy summer. In June we took 15 children to Holston Baptist Association Fun in the Son Camp. We had a great week at Carson Springs learning the “Cowboy Way” Riding for the Lord and not for men. Our Key verse was Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” The first night we had horse rides and a petting zoo, and Ron and Francine Singletary, real cowboys from Oklahoma were with us all week. The best part of the week for me and the other leaders was the small group devotions we had each night. We were able to get closer to our kids and really help them dig into God’s word and understand what they were hearing during the day. We attend this camp every year; the dates for next year are June 18-22. If your child is in third grade through sixth grade put these dates on your calendar and make plans for them to join us.

In June we had one of the best attended VBS weeks. Our theme was Game on-Gearing up for God’s Big Game. Kids were encouraged to not live life in their own strength, but to depend on God. He has given us everything we need, and His word, the Bible is our ultimate playbook. Our Wonderful Wednesday fellowships have been a great success this summer. Some of the favorites for the kids were Fun Depot, Just Jump and Water day. I want to give a great big thanks to all the teachers and helpers. Volunteers are not paid because they are worthless, but because they are priceless!

I want to thank Angela and Beth Shelton for all their hard work this summer, and also the youth who helped with VBS and all the trips.

I’m looking forward to the fall. The new Sunday school year will start August 19 and Awana will start again on September 12. Please make plans to be a part of Calvary Baptist Church worship and fellowship this fall.
